It started because we were tired of keeping score.
SmashScore is a small French company. Here is who runs it, and why this product exists.
The problem fitted in one sentence
"What's the score again?" Every padel match between friends, the same scene: three versions of the score, one point of disagreement, and an argument that lasts longer than the rally. Nobody counts while playing — you forget who serves, from which side, and how many games have gone by.
The app came first
Before the bracelets, there was the app. Free, on iOS and Android, it keeps the score, the serve and the sets for you. It is still free today, and manual and bracelet scoring will stay that way. It also encodes the ten official French Tennis Federation formats, which opened the door to club tournaments.
Then the bracelets
Reaching for your phone between points does not work. We needed a gesture that takes half a second and does not interrupt play: one bracelet per team, one click after each point. The hardware is a low-energy Bluetooth module, IP67 waterproof, with a battery that lasts several months. The phone stays clipped to the fence and shows the score.
Who is behind it
SmashScore is published by EURL NGP, registered with the Aix-en-Provence trade register under number 911 197 366. It is a small operation: we pack and ship the orders ourselves, and the same person answers the phone and the emails.
